MAY 2026 | MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

Road to resilience
10K Challenge

Every gift made in the month of May helps a family living through the trauma of war find healing, hope, and solid ground.

Your gift is doubled all month long.

Every dollar donated is matched 1:1 - up to $5,000 in total matching funds.

About the Campaign

Celebrating five years of healing for families.

The Road to Resilience-10K Challenge is Mountain Seed Foundation’s May fundraising campaign, running the full month of Mental Health Awareness Month. Donate this May and you’re raising funds that send families impacted by war to our transformative healing programs.

For families living in the shadow of conflict – parents carrying
invisible wounds, children who have witnessed unspeakable loss – the road back to themselves is long. Our Healing Base Camp and Mini Base Camp programs provide structured, evidence-based mental health support that works. Not because we hope it will, but because we have watched it happen, again and again, over five years.

This May, we are asking our community to celebrate with us by doubling the impact of donations. This month, make your support go twice as far for the families who need it most.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CO-FOUNDER

NATHAN SCHMIDT

“And the personal consequence [of combat tours] was a broken man becoming more broken – and although I looked strong on the outside, I was broken on the inside.

It has taken me over a decade to heal. My wife, Dana, watched as her new husband would crumble. She shorted her own tour to Iraq with its own consequences on her career so she could be with me and nurse me back to some level of health – but still I was broken.

It took faith and the mountains to finally get me to a better place, to heal the cracks like a piece of Kintsugi pottery, to heal the deep wounds of war.

It took faith and the mountains and listening for me to understand this calling to do the same for others, particularly the most vulnerable and the innocent victims of conflict: the children and their families.“

WHY IT MATTERS

War doesn't end when the fighting stops. The mental wounds run deepest — and they heal slowest without support.

Trauma Is a Family Crisis

When a parent carries the weight of war – nightmares, hypervigilance, emotional shutdown – their children
feel it too. Untreated trauma ripples across generations. Our programs treat the family unit together, breaking cycles that would otherwise compound
for decades.

the mountains are therapy

Our Healing Base Camp program uses the proven power of outdoor environments to lower cortisol, restore nervous system regulation, and create
the conditions for real therapeutic work. The mountain is not a backdrop. It is part of the treatment.

The Moment Is Now

Families living through war do not have the luxury of waiting for services to reach them. Mental health support delayed is often mental health support
denied. Your donation this May — doubled by our matching partner — funds programs that are actively running for families in Ukraine right now.
